The turning of the season sends young minds outside to watch the leaves change, and these tokens keep that noticing going once everyone is back indoors. These are double-sided hardwood leaves, cut for counting practice, a nature study, or a fall-themed sensory bin.

Instead of paint, we let the two woods carry the color. The maple leaves are cut from solid maple and the cherry leaves from solid cherry, and having two distinct tones lets a child build a set of ten two different ways, compare two groups side by side, and notice doubles and even numbers before those words mean anything. There is no dye or paint anywhere in this set.

Each leaf is cut from solid hardwood rather than plywood, laser-engraved with its veins, and finished by hand with food-safe beeswax and jojoba oil. At roughly 2.25 by 1.75 inches, the pieces are sized for small hands and carry enough weight to sit still where a child puts them.

Open-ended by design. Drop them into a rice or bean sensory bin as hidden treasure to find and sort, scatter them across a nature table, or line them up as counters alongside whatever math curriculum you already use.
