Ten frames are one of the most useful manipulatives in early math. This personalizable wooden ten frame comes with 20 solid hardwood winter-themed counters. Choose two designs from the following: Christmas tree, penguins, polar bears, snowflakes.

A ten frame gives a child a way to see numbers before they can write them. Five penguins fill the top row, five polar bears fill the bottom, and the full board shows that five and five make ten without anyone having to say it. The trees and penguins are cut from cherry and the polar bears and snowflakes from maple, so choosing one of each wood gives the clearest light and dark contrast. A same-wood pair (trees with penguins, or polar bears with snowflakes) works too, and a child tells those apart by shape.

The board is laser-cut from premium Baltic birch, measures approximately 15.25 by 7.75 inches, and is engraved with the name you choose. Each counter is laser-cut from 3/16 inch solid hardwood, laser-engraved, and finished by hand with food-safe beeswax and jojoba oil. At about 2 inches tall, the counters fit inside the board's square wells and are easy for small hands to pick up.
