Working as a log towing deckhand is a much more demanding, injurious and complicated job than towing barges or docking ships. You will never learn all the tricks of this trade, they are endless. It will take one year just to feel somewhat comfortable, and with every year of experience, your knowledge and job performance will improve. Working on logs requires athletic abilities, strength, balance, agility and stamina, all combined with the skill of problem solving under pressure.
