Every leaf in this wooden Montessori puzzle is cut from the tree it belongs to. The maple leaf is solid maple, the cherry leaf is solid cherry, and the same goes for the ash, alder, poplar, and oak. A child who fits these six leaves into their places is learning leaf shapes with their fingers first, and learning the trees themselves at the same time, feeling how oak weighs more than poplar and how each wood carries its own grain, color, and scent.

Each leaf is laser-engraved with its vein pattern on one side and left as bare, touchable grain on the other. Trace the veins for leaf identification practice, flip the pieces over to compare the six woods, or carry the set outside and match each leaf to a real tree on a nature walk.

The chunky leaves are approximately 2" x 3", sized for small hands, with no small parts. The base is laser-cut from premium Baltic birch plywood and measures approximately 19.5" x 8" (or 19.5" x 6.75" for the nonpersonalized version), making it a beautiful addition to a Montessori classroom or child's playroom.

Personalization is available. Add a child's name for a birthday or back-to-school gift, or a classroom name for a teacher building out a botany shelf.
