Atan is an orphan left on the stairs of the Trinity Monastery, where they train the ruling class of the Legacy Colony. Left to fend for himself and live in the shadows, Atan grows up ignored and hated by those training to rule the founding colony.

But when Edmond, the overseer of the Monastery, thrusts Atan into the world of the Trinity apprentices and the politics of ruling a world, Atan soon discovers that Legacy isn't thriving like they've let the colonists believe. The aliens inhabiting the planet are on the verge of overtaking the colony, and Atan has an untapped power that may be the key to Legacy's survival.

Can Atan save the colony, keep the politicians from enslaving him, and take his rightful position as heir to Legacy's Trinity Ruling class? Or will his powers prove to be a parlor trick that lulls the colony into complacency and send them spiraling into absolute destruction?
