Meet DayZee! In the heart of Malawi, a special zebra is born. But DayZee is different from the rest of her herd. At the back of her neck, where she cannot even see it, is a remarkable purple stripe. Because she looks different, DayZee is socially shunned by the other young zebras.

In the vast African savannah, she faces a rough introduction to the animal kingdom and the lonely longing to fit in. When fierce lions and a cranky crocodile frighten DayZee, instead of attacking, the menacing animals suddenly turn and run away. The herd watches as they realize that DayZee has an extraordinary superpower. Her unique purple stripe is a protective shield against dangerous predators.

Malawi's panoramic grasslands, vibrant skies and scenic Lilongwe River shoreline provide a radiant backdrop to this wildlife adventure for children ages 3 to 8. The heartwarming tale offers a metaphor of self-discovery and acceptance into a community and that true belonging begins when we embrace what makes us unique.
