Core High School Language Arts carries six parts moving from professional and academic writing through poetry, critique, research, and publication.

Its purpose is a writer working at the level the professional and academic world requires and a reader who understands why form matters. The book assumes the genre fluency the middle-school book builds, and takes it into sophisticated production and criticism.
