When Maddux rushes into the community garden on a scorching summer day, he expects to find bright flowers, buzzing bees, and healthy vegetables. Instead, the soil is dry and cracked, the plants are drooping, and even the birdbath is empty.

Maddux wants to help right away-but saving a thirsty garden takes more than pouring on extra water. With guidance from Ms. Elena, he learns how to water plants carefully, keep the soil cool with mulch, create shade, reuse rainwater, and choose flowers that can handle hot weather. As neighbors join in, Maddux discovers that patience, teamwork, and small acts of care can make a big difference.

Maddux and the Garden That Got Too Hot is a warm and colorful picture book that introduces children ages 4-7 to heat, water conservation, gardening, and caring for nature in an easy-to-understand way.
